County Assembly Establishes a General Oversight Committee (GoC)

[lsvr_accordion toggle=”yes”][lsvr_accordion_item title=”Mandate of General Oversight Committee (GOC)”]This is a Committee of the Whole House chaired by the Speaker, or in absence of the Speaker, the Chairperson of Committees.

The basis of this committee is provided for in Section 39 (2) (b) of the County Government Act, 2012 which mandates a committee to invite members of the County Executive Committee to provide information relating to the responsibilities of CECs.

The Committee may invite to its meeting more than one member of the County Executive at ago so as to address cross-cutting matters.

The Assembly felt that the GoC will be a good idea since it will be a committee of the whole house chaired by the Speaker hence the engagement is bound to be fruitful and this will improve the oversight role of the Assembly.[/lsvr_accordion_item][/lsvr_accordion]
